KHANEWAL:
Local authorities in Khanewal have decided to launch a crackdown on encroachments across the city while relocating the weekly subsidized Friday Bazaar to improve traffic flow and public convenience.
The decision was taken during a meeting between officials of Sahulat Bazaar, including Engineer Muhammad Abdul Rehman and Saqib Sarfraz, and SDO Para Force Qaswar Dareshak.
According to officials, the weekly Friday Bazaar will be shifted to Sahulat Bazaar from May 1, 2026, instead of being held at traditional locations such as Jamia Masjid Chowk, Jamia Masjid Road, and Chowk Sanglanwala.
Authorities said the move is aimed at ensuring better traffic management and creating a more organized and comfortable shopping environment, particularly for women.
They added that indiscriminate encroachments in major markets, roads, and streets are being removed to facilitate smooth movement of traffic and pedestrians. The Para Force has already initiated operations to clear illegal structures and obstructions across key areas of the city.
Officials noted that Sahulat Bazaar will continue to provide essential daily-use items at subsidized rates, ensuring affordability for the public.
Qaswar Dareshak welcomed the relocation of the Friday Bazaar, describing it as a positive step toward improved public service delivery and better urban management.
