SAHIWAL: Development activity in constituency PP-199 has gathered significant pace under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s flagship “Sarkan Bahal, Punjab Khushhal” programme, with 41 road rehabilitation schemes currently underway to improve urban connectivity and infrastructure.
The large-scale initiative is being executed with the active involvement of Parliamentary Secretary for Forests and Member of Provincial Assembly Malik Qasim Nadeem, who has been instrumental in advancing development projects across the constituency. Officials say more than Rs460 million has been allocated for these schemes, all of which are expected to be completed by June 30.
Under the programme, approximately 18.30 kilometres of roads in various urban and suburban areas are being repaired, reconstructed, or resurfaced. The initiative aims to provide safer and smoother transportation while contributing to broader economic and social development.
Key projects include the rehabilitation of Girls College Road to Fateh Sher Road, Khokha Bazaar to Sadar Chowk Bazaar (Church Road), High Street to Gol Chowk Road, Farid Town Road, and Fateh Sher Road. Work is also underway in Chak No. 96/6-R, 87/6-R, and 97/6-R. Additional schemes cover 78/5-R Carpet Road, TBZ Colony roads, Main Jahaz Ground Road, 94/6-R Road, Stadium Hotel to Five Ways Chowk Road, Masjid Ibrahim to Noor Shah Road in Shadman Town, and Street No. 5 in Muslim Bin Aqeel Colony.
Residents have welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that improved road infrastructure will ease traffic congestion, enhance mobility, and generate positive economic impacts for local businesses. Improved connectivity is also expected to facilitate better access to educational institutions, markets, and residential areas.
Officials have stated that strict timelines and quality standards are being enforced to ensure transparency and timely completion. The programme reflects the Punjab government’s broader commitment to infrastructure development and public welfare.
