LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has emphasized that court reporting requires a high degree of accuracy, responsibility, and professional excellence, as she congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Lahore High Court Court Reporters Association for the 2026–27 term.
In her congratulatory message, she extended best wishes to President Ibad-ul-Haq, Senior Vice President Yousaf Shah, Vice President Munir Ahmad Bajwa, Secretary Shakeel Saeed, Vice President (District Courts) Naeem Malik, Finance Secretary Jamal-ud-Din Jamali, Information Secretary Affan Riaz, and Head of Digital Media Ijlal Haider Zaidi.
Highlighting the role of court reporters, Azma Bokhari said that accurately conveying judicial proceedings to the public is a highly sensitive responsibility, which requires both precision and a deep understanding of legal matters. She noted that court reporting is more challenging than many other fields of journalism due to the complexity of legal processes and the need for strict factual accuracy.
“Journalists who continue court reporting despite extreme weather and challenging working conditions deserve appreciation,” she said.
She expressed hope that the newly elected body would uphold journalistic ethics, contribute to improving the welfare of journalists, and play an active role in raising the standards of court reporting.
The minister concluded by offering prayers for their success and assured full support from the Department of Information.
