Islamabad: In a significant step toward improving public services, the federal government has announced a reduction in the processing time for normal passports from 21 days to 14 days, effective across all passport offices nationwide.
The announcement was made by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, who stated that modernising Pakistan’s passport services and eliminating public inconvenience remains a top government priority.
Minister Naqvi also assigned a 15-day deadline to relevant authorities for implementing a fully cashless payment system across all passport offices, aiming to bring greater transparency and efficiency to the process.
In addition, the government has decided to further strengthen the home delivery mechanism for passports, ensuring that citizens can receive their documents at their doorstep without the need for repeated office visits.
Officials believe these reforms will not only reduce processing delays but also significantly curb corruption and improve the overall experience for millions of Pakistanis who apply for passports each year.
