LAHORE: Progress on the Chief Minister Punjab Local Roads Program is continuing steadily, with authorities reviewing developments on key infrastructure projects across the province.
An important meeting was held under the chair of Provincial Minister for Communications & Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth, during which a detailed review of the rehabilitation of rural link roads under the program was conducted.
The meeting was attended online by Secretary C&W Raja Jahangir Anwar, along with Special Secretaries, Additional Secretaries, Chief Engineers, and XENs.
Participants were informed that, on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, a total of 1,530 schemes have been included in the program, while work on 444 local roads is currently underway across the province.
Provincial Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth directed that construction work on the remaining roads should commence immediately. The meeting was further briefed that approximately 20 percent of the earthwork has been completed so far.
Officials also shared that around 3,310 kilometers of rural link roads will be rehabilitated under the Local Roads Program. The Provincial Minister instructed field officers to accelerate the pace of work and ensure that construction is completed by June.
