LAHORE, May 15: In line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Health for All” vision, Lahore General Hospital has provided modern and quality healthcare services to 754,350 patients during the first four months of the current year.
According to a performance report presented by MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain to Principal Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, the hospital witnessed a huge influx of patients in both the Emergency and Outdoor departments from January to April.
The report revealed that 365,091 patients in the Emergency Department received free medicines, diagnostic tests, CT scans and surgical treatment. During the same period, 35,396 successful surgeries of different categories were carried out.
Principal Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said that under the guidance of Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique and Secretary Specialized Healthcare Azmat Mehmood Khan, the hospital administration is utilizing all available resources for the welfare of patients.
He said an effective monitoring and feedback system has been introduced, which is already producing encouraging results. He reaffirmed that LGH would continue providing standardized healthcare facilities to people across the province in accordance with the Chief Minister’s vision of accessible healthcare for all.
MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain stated that administrative doctors have been assigned dedicated responsibilities to ensure discipline, cleanliness, attendance of healthcare staff and improved patient care.
The four-month statistical report showed that the hospital conducted nearly 800,000 laboratory tests, 106,410 X-rays, 43,728 ultrasounds, 24,090 CT scans, 6,639 MRIs, 83 mammographies, 2,334 gastroscopies, more than 30,000 ECGs and 6,174 dialysis procedures. In addition, 1,423 patients from other districts were referred to LGH for specialized treatment.
