Norfolk Police have arrested seven Afghan nationals on serious charges of child sexual exploitation following a coordinated operation involving raids at multiple addresses in Norwich and Dumbarton.
According to British media reports, the case centres on two girls who were minors at the time of the alleged offences, with incidents believed to have taken place in Norwich between August 2023 and May 2025.
When presented before a judge, police revealed that all seven suspects had entered the United Kingdom illegally — some via small boat crossings, while one is reported to have concealed himself in a lorry before entering through a port. Investigators confirmed that none of the men had been residing in any official asylum seeker accommodation in Norfolk.
Minister for Safeguarding Natalie Fleet condemned the alleged crimes in the strongest terms, describing them as “utterly abhorrent” and expressing her sympathies with the victims and their families. “These men will face the full force of the law,” she said, adding that there was no place in Britain for foreign nationals who commit such offences.
The arrests come at a time of heightened political debate in the United Kingdom over illegal immigration and child safeguarding, with the case likely to intensify calls for stricter border enforcement and faster processing of asylum claims.
