SAHIWAL: Deputy Commissioner Sahiwal Captain (R) Samiullah Farooq has called upon religious scholars to play an active role in promoting social reform, public cleanliness, civic responsibility, and adherence to the law during Eid-ul-Adha, emphasizing that their cooperation is essential for ensuring a clean, safe, and peaceful environment for citizens.
He expressed these views while addressing a Religious Scholars Convention held at the Sahiwal Arts Council. The event was organized to brief religious leaders on the code of conduct issued by the district administration for Eid-ul-Adha and to engage them in a public awareness campaign aimed at maintaining sanitation and public order during the religious festival.
A large number of religious scholars from across the district attended the convention alongside Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sahiwal Rana Ayaz Saleem, District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Usman Tipu, Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Marhaba Nemat, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Niaz Ahmad Mughal, Assistant Commissioner Maham Waheed, and SDO Parra Nauman Qaiser.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner urged scholars to use Friday sermons and religious gatherings to educate citizens about the proper disposal of sacrificial animal waste. He requested that people place animal remains in the designated waste bags provided by the administration and avoid dumping offal in streets, markets, canals, drains, and open spaces.
Citizens were advised to contact the Suthra Punjab Agency helpline at 1139 or the district administration’s control room at 040-9200069 in case of complaints or emergencies.
RPO Rana Ayaz Saleem highlighted the important role of religious scholars in promoting peace, tolerance, ethical values, and positive social behavior.
