ISLAMABAD / LAHORE — In a major security mobilization ahead of the upcoming general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, authorities have formally requisitioned 5,000 personnel from the Punjab Police to ensure peaceful and secure polling across the region.
According to official sources, the Gilgit-Baltistan administration, in coordination with the federal government, has requested the deployment of trained Punjab Police officers to reinforce security arrangements throughout the constituency areas.
The deployed personnel will be stationed at polling stations, sensitive locations, and key arterial routes across the mountainous region. Election Commission sources noted that ensuring security in Gilgit-Baltistan’s remote and rugged terrain presents unique logistical challenges, necessitating the induction of additional law enforcement strength.
Officials confirmed that all security arrangements will be finalized well in advance to ensure the elections are conducted in a transparent, peaceful, and orderly manner.
“No stone will be left unturned to guarantee the safety of voters and election staff,” a senior official stated.*
