ISLAMABAD: YTO HRL Logistics, a joint venture between China’s leading express and supply chain company YTO Express and Pakistan’s Habib Rafiq Engineering Pvt. Ltd. (HRL Group), was formally launched at a landmark ceremony held at the Serena Hotel, Islamabad, marking one of the most significant private-sector milestones in the Pakistan-China economic partnership.
What began as a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in Beijing last year in the presence of the Prime Minister of Pakistan has now evolved into a fully operational joint venture. The initiative aims to transform Pakistan’s logistics landscape by providing faster, more efficient, and cost-effective movement of goods across the country and the wider region.
The launch ceremony was attended by senior government officials, diplomats, business leaders, and representatives of the international community, reflecting the strategic importance of the venture for Pakistan’s economic development and regional connectivity.
Among the guests of honour were Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi and Federal Minister for Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan. Addressing the ceremony, Hanif Abbasi highlighted the importance of modern logistics infrastructure in supporting trade, industrial growth, and regional integration.
The event also attracted a distinguished delegation of diplomats from ten countries, particularly from Central Asia, underscoring the project’s regional significance. Ambassadors from Tajikistan, Indonesia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan attended the ceremony, signaling growing interest in utilizing Pakistan as a gateway connecting landlocked Central Asian markets to global sea routes.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of Azerbaijan Khazar Farhadov, and Ambassador of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kistafin praised the initiative and emphasized the importance of enhanced logistics connectivity in promoting regional trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
The establishment of YTO HRL Logistics represents a major step forward in strengthening supply chain infrastructure under the broader framework of Pakistan-China economic cooperation. By combining YTO Express’s global logistics expertise with HRL Group’s local experience and infrastructure capabilities, the joint venture is expected to contribute significantly to trade facilitation, e-commerce growth, and regional economic integration.
Industry observers view the venture as a practical realization of commitments made during high-level engagements between Pakistan and China, transforming diplomatic understandings into tangible economic opportunities that can support Pakistan’s long-term development goals and position the country as a regional logistics hub.
