According to a report by Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth, Israel is facing growing boycotts, travel bans and political pressure worldwide, prompting several countries to take action against Israeli ministers and settlers.
The report, published Thursday under the headline “How Israel Became the World’s Most Boycotted Country,” said the Gaza war and Israeli policies in the West Bank have significantly accelerated international sanctions and BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) campaigns against Israel. The newspaper said Israel is facing “a tsunami of international sanctions,” with various countries and long-active BDS organizations targeting Israeli officials, settlers and institutions.
The report noted that France recently banned Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich from entering the country, after previously imposing a similar ban on National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. According to the newspaper, France’s move came in response to both ministers’ active support for West Bank annexation, the establishment of new Jewish settlements, and policies aimed at weakening the Palestinian Authority. The United Nations considers the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, occupied Palestinian territory, and views its annexation by Israel as tantamount to eliminating the prospects for an independent Palestinian state.
