LAHORE: Punjab Police formally launched the 14th batch of its Internship Program during an inaugural ceremony held at the Central Police Office (CPO) Lahore, providing university students with practical exposure to policing and public service.
The new batch comprises 101 students, including 61 from Government College University (GCU) Lahore and 40 from the University of the Punjab.
Addressing the participants, DIG Training Munir Ahmed Zia highlighted the objectives and key features of the internship program, emphasizing its role in strengthening links between academia and law enforcement institutions.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, the students have been divided into five groups and assigned to various field formations for a six-week training period. During the internship, participants will gain firsthand knowledge of field policing, crime prevention strategies, and public service delivery initiatives.
The program will also provide comprehensive exposure to modern policing practices in specialized departments, including Information Technology, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), Investigation, and Traffic Police Punjab.
At the conclusion of the internship, students will submit presentation reports outlining their observations, experiences, and recommendations based on their field assignments.
Punjab Police officials said the initiative aims to enhance students’ understanding of law enforcement operations while encouraging civic engagement and professional development among young people.
