JHELUM: Punjab Minister for Communications and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth visited Tehsil Pind Dadan Khan in District Jhelum to review security, administrative and healthcare arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to ensuring the peaceful observance of the holy month.
During the visit, the minister inspected procession routes and various Imambargahs. He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Jhelum Mir Raza Ozgan, Assistant Commissioner Pind Dadan Khan Ayesha Shafqat, District Police Officer Jhelum Muhammad Shafiq, and other senior officials.
Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth visited several Imambargahs and sought feedback from their management regarding arrangements made by the district administration for Muharram processions and religious gatherings. He also held detailed discussions with procession license holders and reviewed the security plan devised for the observance of Muharram.
The minister inspected the concluding points of major processions and interacted with representatives of religious organizations to learn about their concerns, suggestions and requirements.
Speaking to the media, Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth said that the Punjab Government is implementing comprehensive and proactive measures across the province to ensure the peaceful and secure observance of Muharram-ul-Haram.
“All necessary arrangements are being finalized to provide the best possible facilities to mourners so that they can observe these sacred days in accordance with their religious beliefs and traditions,” he said.
The minister added that the sacrifice of the martyrs of Karbala continues to inspire people around the world. He said the message of Karbala teaches humanity to stand firmly against oppression and remain committed to truth, justice and righteousness.
During the visit, Malik Sohaib Ahmad Bharth also inspected the Control Room established by the district administration at the Tehsil Office. He held a detailed meeting with officials on duty and received a briefing on the role, functioning and performance of the facility in maintaining law and order during Muharram.
He appreciated the arrangements made by the district administration of Jhelum for ensuring the security of processions and facilitating mourners, noting that all security agencies remain on high alert during the sensitive period.
The provincial minister reiterated the Punjab Government’s resolve to provide a peaceful, secure and well-managed environment for religious observances throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
Later, he chaired a high-level meeting at the Assistant Commissioner’s Office in Pind Dadan Khan, where district officials briefed him on staff deployment along procession routes, sanitation campaigns, drainage management and measures to ensure uninterrupted municipal services.
The minister also visited the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Pind Dadan Khan, to review special healthcare arrangements for Muharram. Expressing satisfaction over the preparedness of medical facilities, he directed health officials to ensure the uninterrupted availability of medicines, emergency services and other essential healthcare facilities for mourners and the general public during the holy month.
