The Government of Pakistan has collected PKR 85 billion in income tax from the salaried class during the first two months of the current fiscal year 2025-26, marking a 21 percent increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
In July and August of FY 2024-25, PKR 70 billion had been collected, while the figure rose by PKR 15 billion this year.
Official data shows that non-corporate employees contributed PKR 41 billion, while corporate employees paid PKR 20 billion in taxes. Provincial government employees accounted for PKR 10.5 billion, and federal government employees contributed PKR 7.6 billion.
Meanwhile, the newly imposed tax on large pensioners generated only PKR 180 million during the two-month period.
