LAHORE, July 9, 2026: On the directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police have intensified province-wide operations against individuals violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act, reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy toward the hazardous practice.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, a total of 9,813 suspects have been arrested and 9,445 cases registered across Punjab, including Lahore, during the current year for violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act. Police also recovered 472,296 kites and 14,833 string reels during the ongoing crackdown.
In Lahore alone, police arrested 4,575 suspects and registered 4,405 cases. During the operations in the provincial capital, authorities seized 121,630 kites and 4,723 string reels.
IG Punjab Abdul Kareem directed all field formations to ensure strict and indiscriminate legal action against those involved in kite flying, emphasizing that no violation of the Anti-Kite Flying Act will be tolerated anywhere in the province.
He also ordered law enforcement agencies to take action against individuals engaged in the online sale and distribution of kites and hazardous metallic string, which has been linked to fatal accidents and serious injuries.
Appealing to parents, the IG Punjab urged them to prevent their children from participating in this dangerous activity. He also called on citizens to immediately report any incidents of kite flying by calling the Police Helpline 15, stressing that public cooperation is essential to eliminating the deadly practice and ensuring public safety.
