LAHORE: A comprehensive performance review meeting of Lahore General Hospital (LGH) was held under the chairmanship of Principal Amiruddin Medical College, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Farooq Afzal, during which key decisions were taken to further improve healthcare services, strengthen security, and ensure monsoon preparedness.
The two-hour meeting was attended by Medical Superintendent (MS) Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain, administrative doctors, and the Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent (DCNS). The MS briefed the participants on the performance of all departments and the medical facilities being provided to patients under government policy.
Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal directed the works and sanitation departments to remain on high alert during the monsoon season, stressing that there would be no tolerance for negligence in the healthcare system. He instructed officials to ensure a clean and hygienic hospital environment without delay.
The Principal also ordered that sufficient stocks of rare blood groups be maintained in the Blood Bank to meet emergency requirements. He directed administrative doctors and focal persons to conduct daily rounds of their respective departments and submit regular reports to the Medical Superintendent, warning that negligence would not be tolerated.
Emphasizing zero tolerance for lapses in security and sanitation, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal instructed sanitary inspectors to actively monitor hospital departments instead of relying solely on office reports. He also ordered priority police verification of employees working with private security and cleaning contractors.
The meeting further directed strict action against begging and illegal vending within the hospital premises. The Deputy Chief Nursing Superintendent was instructed to ensure high standards of patient care, effective ward management, proper record maintenance, and full compliance with Punjab Healthcare Commission SOPs.
The Principal also emphasized strict enforcement of the “One Patient, One Attendant” policy to maintain discipline within the hospital. The Chief Pharmacist was directed to provide weekly updates to doctors regarding the availability of medicines.
He further announced that outstanding employees would be recognized with appreciation certificates, while strict departmental action would be taken against staff involved in indiscipline, late attendance, early departures, or improper handover of duties.
MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain assured that the hospital administration would continue working with greater dedication to meet the expectations of both the government and the public.
