LAHORE: Speaker Punjab Assembly Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan met with Ombudsperson Punjab Dr. Najma Afzal Khan to discuss measures aimed at strengthening women’s protection, preventing workplace harassment, and enhancing institutional cooperation.
During the meeting, Dr. Najma Afzal Khan presented the proposed Code of Conduct for the Prevention of Harassment to the Speaker. The discussion also focused on the establishment of an Anti-Harassment Committee in the Punjab Assembly and steps to further strengthen institutional mechanisms for ensuring a safe and respectful working environment.
Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmad Khan reaffirmed the Punjab Assembly’s commitment to providing full support for the creation of a dignified, secure, and harassment-free workplace. He stated that effective implementation of the proposed Code of Conduct would further strengthen the protection of women and enhance institutional accountability.
Dr. Najma Afzal Khan said that the Office of the Ombudsperson Punjab is working in accordance with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of “Zero Tolerance Against Harassment.” She announced that specialized anti-harassment training sessions would be organized for women members of the Punjab Assembly and members of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus.
Both sides agreed to enhance institutional collaboration and continue joint efforts to promote a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free environment within public institutions.
