Speculation swirled after the release of “Yeh Aawarapan,” the title track of Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming film “Aawarapan 2,” suggesting that singer Arijit Singh had ended his retirement and returned to playback singing. However, his manager has dismissed all such rumors, clarifying that the song does not mark a comeback but rather fulfills commitments made before his retirement. “These are old contracts — Arijit is not returning to playback singing,” the manager stated.
Arijit Singh had announced his retirement from playback singing in January 2026, though he had also said at the time that he would honor all prior commitments.
“Yeh Aawarapan” is composed by Amaal Mallik, with lyrics penned by Rashmi Virag. Released under the Vishesh Films and Sony Music India banner, the emotional melody brought back memories of the 2007 classic “Aawarapan” for longtime fans. The music video once again features Emraan Hashmi in the role of Shivam Pandit.
The film also stars Disha Patani, Shabana Azmi, and Aniruddh Rawal in key roles, and is set to release in cinemas on August 14.
