LONDON — Climate activist Greta Thunberg joined a solidarity protest by Indian students in London, expressing strong support for their movement. The demonstration marched from Trafalgar Square to the Indian High Commission, with UK-based Indian students, activists, and organizations demanding educational reform and student rights.
Addressing the crowd, Thunberg said: “This is not just a fight about exams or the education system — it’s a broader struggle for democracy, justice, and accountability.” She praised Indian students for giving “hope to people around the world” and reminding everyone “what people power truly means,” adding that young voices should be heard, not silenced.
The protest comes amid growing unrest in India over an alleged NEET exam paper leak and demands for reform of the examination system — a movement that has sparked weeks of sit-ins, negotiations, and protests across several states. Organizers said similar solidarity demonstrations are being held in cities across Europe and North America.
