Sarajevo– A Bosnian activist aboard the “Flotilla Samoud”, an aid ship bound for Gaza, has expressed fears that the Israeli military might open fire or attempt to sink the vessel in order to prevent it from reaching its destination.
The activist, speaking before departure, warned that despite the flotilla carrying humanitarian assistance, there was a “serious risk of Israeli aggression” in international waters.
The Flotilla Samoud is part of an international effort by pro-Palestinian groups aiming to deliver relief supplies to Gaza, where humanitarian conditions have deteriorated sharply under the ongoing blockade.
Human rights organizations have raised concerns that the mission could face a confrontation similar to the 2010 Mavi Marmara incident, when Israeli commandos boarded a Turkish-led aid flotilla, resulting in multiple deaths and a diplomatic crisis.
Israeli officials have not yet issued a statement regarding the Bosnian activist’s claims.
