Samsung Gulf Electronics marked the launch of its new foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold8, with an extraordinary aerial spectacle over Dubai’s skyline. Twenty professional skydivers, in collaboration with Skydive Dubai, jumped from an altitude of approximately 12,000 feet and formed the shape of the Galaxy Z Fold8 using their bodies during freefall, with the iconic Palm Jumeirah as the backdrop. The skydivers coordinated their positions with remarkable precision mid-air to recreate the phone’s new design, and the entire performance was filmed to be featured in Samsung’s promotional campaign.
According to Samsung, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is the company’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet, weighing just 201 grams. It features a 10:16 cover screen and a 4:3 main display, offering a larger, more comfortable experience for reading, watching videos, gaming, and multitasking. The device was globally unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event held in London on July 22. All participating skydivers wore either the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 or Galaxy Watch9, which helped them precisely maintain their speed, timing, and spacing from one another during the jump.
The campaign also featured Ahmad Al Shehhi, a renowned UAE-based XDubai athlete, skydiver, and jet-suit pilot, who documented the entire journey from ground to sky. Fadi Abu Shamat, Vice President of the Mobile Experience Division at Samsung Gulf Electronics, said: “The best innovations inspire people to express new capabilities and reach greater heights. The Galaxy Z Fold8 represents that same spirit.” He added that, inspired by Dubai’s bold spirit, the company wanted to celebrate the phone’s arrival in a way that was just as daring — turning the concept of a foldable device into a real spectacle across the skies of the UAE.
