Prof. Jodat Saleem Appointed Director Clinical Emergency at Lahore General Hospital

LAHORE: Principal of the Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI), Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, has appointed Prof. Jodat Saleem, Head of the Department of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Unit (ICU), as Director Clinical Emergency at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) to further strengthen emergency healthcare services.

A formal notification regarding the appointment has been issued.

Prof. Farooq Afzal said the appointment was made in line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of creating a patient-friendly healthcare system and transforming the hospital’s Emergency Department into a model emergency facility.

He described Prof. Jodat Saleem as an experienced clinician with strong administrative capabilities, expressing confidence that his expertise would further improve patient care, accelerate diagnostic procedures, and enhance timely treatment for emergency patients.

“The Emergency Department is the most sensitive and critical unit of any hospital, where every moment is vital,” Prof. Afzal said. “By strengthening patient care, monitoring, coordination, and feedback mechanisms, the hospital aims to significantly improve its emergency response and overall service delivery.”

Medical Superintendent (MS) Lahore General Hospital, Prof. Faryad Hussain, said providing patients with high-quality medical care in a safe and patient-friendly environment remains the hospital’s top priority.

He added that under the new administrative framework, greater emphasis would be placed on maintaining discipline in the Emergency Department, ensuring the timely presence of duty staff, and implementing patient-centred measures to further enhance the quality and efficiency of emergency services.
