In Devon and Cornwall, the eclipse will start at about 18:18 BST, peak at 19:15 and finish at about 20:10 – but how can it be viewed safely?
Consultant ophthalmologist David Jones said his top four tips were to use eclipse glasses, a pinhole, colander or a cereal box.
He encouraged people not to miss the “amazing celestial event” but to enjoy it safely.
