KHANEWAL: Deputy Commissioner Khanewal Hina Arshad visited the District Press Club Khanewal, where she was warmly welcomed by President District Press Club Ahmed Raza Qadri, General Secretary Chaudhary Adnan Saeed, Chairman Majlis-e-Amila Qulzam Bashir Ahmed, Executive Members Imtiaz Ali Asad, Sajid Parvez, Syed Hammad Shah, Amir Ayub Paracha, Chaudhary Tanveer and Muhammad Ashraf Gadhi, along with senior journalists and a large number of press club members. A bouquet of flowers was also presented to the Deputy Commissioner.
Provincial Parliamentary Secretary for Communications and Works Rana Saleem Hanif and Member National Assembly Muhammad Khan Daha were also present.
President District Press Club Ahmed Raza Qadri thanked Deputy Commissioner Hina Arshad for visiting the press club and introduced the newly elected cabinet and its members. He also briefed her on the ongoing construction and development work at the District Press Club.
Ahmed Raza Qadri emphasized the importance of strong communication, coordination and mutual cooperation between the journalist community and the district administration. He reiterated the press club’s commitment to maintaining positive and constructive cooperation with the administration.
General Secretary Chaudhary Adnan Saeed said the newly elected cabinet comprises senior and experienced journalists committed to promoting positive, constructive and responsible journalism. He said the press club had always discouraged yellow journalism and unethical practices while safeguarding professional journalistic values.
He assured the district administration of the District Press Club’s full cooperation in matters concerning public welfare and the development of Khanewal.
Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Hina Arshad said the media is the fourth pillar of the state and its role is not limited to highlighting public issues but also includes providing constructive guidance for their resolution and contributing to the improvement of society.
She said responsible journalism plays an important role in bringing positive change and highlighting issues faced by citizens. She reaffirmed that an exemplary working relationship between the district administration and the media would be maintained.
The Deputy Commissioner said the media should identify public issues, while the district administration would take all possible measures for their resolution.
She further said that, in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, all available resources were being utilized to transform Khanewal into a green, clean, beautiful and model district. She said ongoing mega development projects would be completed within the stipulated time, with quality, transparency and adherence to approved standards ensured at every stage.
Later, Deputy Commissioner Hina Arshad planted a sapling on the premises of the District Press Club. She said the district administration was taking practical measures for the beautification of Khanewal, restoration of green belts, promotion of plantation and provision of a healthier and better environment for citizens.
