PPP South Punjab Office-Bearers Meet Punjab Governor at Governor House

LAHORE: A delegation of office-bearers from South Punjab, led by PPP South Punjab President Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood, called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at Governor House Lahore. The meeting discussed the overall political situation in the country and the upcoming Azad Kashmir elections.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said democracy in the country had been strengthened due to the reconciliation policy of President Asif Ali Zardari.
He said President Asif Ali Zardari had made numerous sacrifices for the cause of democracy in Pakistan. The Governor appreciated Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood for strengthening the PPP’s organizational structure in South Punjab and said the people of the region had consistently expressed their trust in the party.
The Governor urged party workers and office-bearers to remain united and follow the directions of the party leadership. He said South Punjab had always been a stronghold of the PPP and would continue to remain so.
He described Bilawal Bhutto Zardari as a young leader with strong principles, courage and conviction. He said whenever the PPP came to power, it had provided employment opportunities to the youth and raised its voice for the rights of the people.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that the PPP’s return to power would usher in a new era of development in South Punjab. He added that if the PPP formed the government in Punjab in the next elections, a new phase of development and progress would begin across the region.
On the occasion, former Punjab Governor and PPP South Punjab President Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood said PPP workers and the people of South Punjab considered Governor House their home. He said the people of South Punjab would never abandon Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
He expressed confidence that party workers under the leadership of Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan were capable of working together with unity and commitment.
Independence Day Message
In his message to the nation on the occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said freedom was a great blessing. He said the nation was breathing in a free atmosphere today due to the immense sacrifices of its ancestors.
He said August 14 called upon every citizen to follow the principles and vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Allama Muhammad Iqbal and play a positive role in the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
“Pakistan is our identity, and its survival is our survival,” he said.
The Governor also paid tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistan Army and security forces who sacrificed their lives for the defence and security of the motherland.
