Artists4Ceasefire: “There is no ceasefire in Gaza” — High-profile artists demand permanent truce and unimpeded aid

Artists4Ceasefire, a coalition of international artists, issued a strongly worded statement condemning Israel’s ongoing operations in Gaza and asserting that a purported ceasefire has not been upheld in practice. The statement, signed by figures including Mark Ruffalo, Javier Bardem and Annie Lennox, renews calls for a permanent ceasefire, unimpeded delivery of vital humanitarian assistance, and an end to decades-long violations of Palestinians’ human rights.
The artists said that despite an October 2025 truce mediated by the United States, attacks on Gaza have continued and the ceasefire is effectively non-existent. “There is no ceasefire in Gaza. Every day Palestinians face horrific atrocities,” the group said, adding that since the truce was announced more than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed and over 4,000 wounded.
UNICEF recently reported that during roughly 300 days following the ceasefire accord, at least 300 children were killed in Gaza and hundreds more were injured. The UN agency also warned that thousands of Palestinian families remain trapped in about one-third of the Gaza Strip, coping with food shortages, disease, contaminated water and destroyed sanitation systems.
The statement also highlighted violence in the occupied West Bank, saying Palestinians there face “daily terror and killings by Israeli settlers and soldiers” and accused the Israeli government of continuing a policy amounting to “ethnic cleansing” of Palestinian land.
Artists4Ceasefire urged the international community, including mediators and United Nations bodies, to take immediate and effective action to secure a lasting ceasefire and ensure lifesaving aid reaches civilians without obstruction.
The statement was signed by additional figures including Melissa Barrera, Hannah Einbinder, Alana Glazer, Poppy Liu, Cynthia Nixon, Susan Sarandon and Morgan Spector. The group has previously received support from artists such as Billie Eilish, Cate Blanchett, Joaquin Phoenix and Ariana Grande.
The release comes days after a joint condemnation issued by the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, Pakistan and Indonesia, denouncing the ongoing civilian deaths in Gaza.
