LGH Celebrates 79th Independence Day with Flag-Hoisting Ceremony

LAHORE: The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm, national fervor and patriotic spirit at Lahore General Hospital (LGH).
Principal Ameeruddin Medical College, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, hoisted the national flag along with MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain, faculty members and healthcare professionals.
Member Board of Management Dr. Zahid Pervez, Prof. Eice Muhammad, doctors, nurses, medical and nursing students, faculty members and a large number of health professionals attended the dignified ceremony.
As the national flag was raised, the atmosphere echoed with patriotic slogans, including “Pakistan Zindabad” and “Pakistan ka matlab kya – La Ilaha Illallah.” Participants also paid rich tribute to the brave soldiers of the Pakistan Army deployed along the borders, acknowledging their spirit of sacrifice and unwavering commitment to the security and freedom of the homeland.
Students of Ameeruddin Medical College, the Nursing College and School of Allied Health Sciences waved national flags and presented patriotic songs, which were warmly applauded by the audience. Nursing students attended the ceremony wearing green scarves.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal said the creation of Pakistan was the result of the sacrifices of millions of people. He said the younger generation must make Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s principles of Faith, Unity and Discipline their guiding principles and contribute to the country’s progress through honesty, dedication and hard work.
He urged medical professionals to consider their duties a form of national service and provide the best possible medical care to patients with sincerity and dedication. He emphasized that improvement in the health sector is also a true expression of patriotism.
MS LGH Prof. Dr. Faryad Hussain said that healthcare professionals must leave no stone unturned in serving suffering humanity, describing quality patient care as a practical demonstration of patriotism and a national responsibility. He urged hospital staff to perform their duties with greater dedication and commitment.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, shields and certificates of appreciation were distributed among 120 employees of PGMI, AMC and LGH in recognition of their outstanding performance.
An Independence Day cake was also cut, while special prayers were offered for the security, progress and prosperity of Pakistan and for the success and safety of the Pakistan Army.
The participants reaffirmed their commitment to fulfilling their professional responsibilities with patriotic spirit and playing their full role in the development and prosperity of Pakistan.
