Special seminar and revolutionary poetry session pay tribute to the social and political services of Hassan Nasir Shaheed and Comrade Nazir Abbasi Shaheed

LAHORE: The Progressive Writers Association of Pakistan and Pak Media Foundation Islamabad organized a special seminar and revolutionary poetry session at Pak Tea House, Nila Gumbad, Lahore, to pay tribute to the social and political services of Comrade Hassan Nasir Shaheed and Comrade Nazir Abbasi Shaheed.
The event focused on the lives and struggles of the two prominent figures of Pakistan’s political history, who were remembered as symbols of resistance, courage and steadfastness. Hassan Nasir Shaheed, former Secretary of the Communist Party of Pakistan, and Nazir Abbasi Shaheed, a prominent leader of the Communist Party of Pakistan, were paid rich tribute for their political and social contributions.
The discussion, titled “Sardar is the One Who Puts Sardar on the Head,” was chaired by Comrade Tanveer Ahmed Khan.
The special guests included Amir Hamza Wark, Provincial President of Awami Workers Party Punjab; Dr. Khalid Rana, Member Communist Party Punjab; Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhry; Comrade Irfan, Labour Secretary MKP Pakistan; and Raza Naeem.
A revolutionary poetry session titled “Agan Wale Ag Pinde Nein Seena Paad Ke Pathran Da” was presided over by renowned poet Baba Najmi. Mumtaz Rashid Lahori, Zahid Huma Shah, Parveen Sajal, Shaukat Ali Naz, Dr. Poonam Noreen Gondal, Comrade Irfan Ali, Ruqia Akbar Chaudhry and Khadim Ali Anjum were among the special guests.
The seminar and poetry session was conducted by Javed Aftab. Several poets, including Mushtaq Qamar, Nawab Kasuri, Mubeed Asim, Mian Hanif Tahir, Samina Khan, Malik Irshad Ikram, Hashmat Ahmed, Faraz Gul and Shahzad Akmal Jafaksh, presented their revolutionary poetry.
A special performance was also presented by Naibzada Asfandyar Khattak, a renowned classical dancer, choreographer and human rights activist and a descendant of the legendary Pashtun poet Khushal Khan Khattak. Visiting from Islamabad, he performed an impactful rendition inspired by Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s poem “Hum Dekhenge,” which received a warm response from the audience.
To honour the political and social services of Comrade Hassan Nasir Shaheed and Comrade Nazir Abbasi Shaheed, the participants stood and observed a minute of silence before presenting a red salute.
Revolutionary songs were also performed by Salmi Khan and Samina Khan, adding to the atmosphere of the ceremony.
