Putin Wants a Deal with Ukraine: Trump

US President Donald Trump has said that Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to reach a deal to end the war in Ukraine. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One before departing for Dallas, Trump described his recent conversation with Putin as “a very good conversation” and hinted at another possible one-on-one meeting between the two leaders, though he did not specify when or where it might take place.
Referring to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Trump said it would be a positive step if Zelensky were also ready to make a deal. Asked what stood in the way of a peace agreement, Trump pointed to personal hostility between Putin and Zelensky as the main obstacle, saying the two “hate each other.”
He added that both sides are exhausted after a long war and that mounting casualties have made a deal increasingly necessary, claiming that 25,000 people were killed last month alone. However, Trump did not provide details on the date, length, or substance of his recent conversation with Putin, and it remains unclear on what terms Moscow and Kyiv might be willing to move toward a concrete agreement.
