The Islamabad High Court has reserved its verdict in a case filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) call for a protest on September 27.
In its ruling, the court stated that no political party or public office holder has the legal authority to block roads in the federal capital, Islamabad. The court emphasized that closing public thoroughfares amounts to a violation of citizens’ fundamental rights.
The Islamabad High Court also directed the chief ministers of the provinces to ensure that government machinery and resources are not used to facilitate any political party’s protest or political activity.
