US Urges Americans to Reconsider Travel to Middle East Amid Rising Tensions

WASHINGTON (International Desk): The US State Department has urged Americans to reconsider travel to the Middle East amid rising tensions, warning of possible flight cancellations, airspace closures and other travel disruptions.
In a post on a US social media platform, the department’s Travel.gov account said Americans in the region should exercise increased caution and be prepared for disruptions. It said the security environment is complex and that unpredictable escalation is possible.
The advisory warned that Iran-backed Houthis have been involved in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks related to civilian airports, and that the conflict “could escalate quickly.” Travelers to and from the region were advised to monitor information from airports and airlines.
The State Department also cautioned that US diplomatic facilities, including some outside the Middle East, have been targeted. Iran and its supported groups could also target other US interests or sites linked to the United States and Americans worldwide, including US businesses and other institutions.
The warning comes amid fresh Houthi attacks and heightened tensions involving Saudi Arabia, following a series of regional security alerts and military incidents.
