LAHORE: On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, Provincial Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique paid tribute to the armed forces and security personnel guarding the country’s borders, as well as police and other law-enforcement agencies working to maintain peace and order.
He also paid homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the pursuit of peace and national security.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said Pakistan’s development and progress were closely linked to sustainable peace, describing peace as a fundamental foundation for progress and prosperity.
He said the sacrifices of Pakistan’s martyrs had protected countless generations, adding that they had given their lives and sacrificed their assets for the security and peace of the country.
The provincial minister said the International Day of Peace served as a reminder of the importance of tolerance, harmony and peaceful coexistence.
He said that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, efforts were being made to eliminate violence, hatred and extremism from society.
Khawaja Salman Rafique said those who resort to violence and create chaos undermine the progress and prosperity of the country.
