Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has rejected an Israeli proposal to join the military campaign against Yemen’s Houthi group. According to Israel’s Haaretz newspaper, Israel sought Riyadh’s approval through US mediation, but the crown prince was not interested in receiving Israeli military assistance.
The report said the Saudi crown prince feared that military cooperation with Israel could trigger a negative reaction among the Saudi public. Israel had hoped joint action would strengthen ties between the two countries, but Saudi officials did not immediately comment on the report. کہ
Houthi Attacks and Airport Closure
Tensions have escalated after Houthi attacks targeted Saudi airports, including Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport. A strike on Saturday killed 13 people and injured more than 300, while another attack on Sunday killed a Pakistani national and wounded 11 others.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation has extended the closure of the airport until October 17. At least 20 people have been killed and hundreds injured in 10 attacks on five Saudi airports over the past week.
Flights Suspended
Several Arab airlines have suspended or cancelled flights to Riyadh following the attacks. Bahrain’s Gulf Air cancelled flights to and from the Saudi capital between October 12 and 17, while Qatar Airways temporarily suspended services to Riyadh and Dammam.
The UAE’s Etihad Airways cancelled all flights between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh until October 19, along with some services to Dammam and Jeddah. EgyptAir also said it would suspend flights from Cairo and Alexandria to Riyadh until operations at the airport resume.
