LAHORE: A delegation of Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) from Sindh Police called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at the Governor House in Lahore on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor highlighted the longstanding institution of policing, noting that it had existed since the era of the Khulafa-e-Rashideen and carried immense responsibilities.
He said the nation had high expectations of young police officers and urged them to improve the environment at police stations so that citizens could approach them without hesitation to seek justice.
The governor advised the officers to follow their conscience and make decisions strictly on merit, ensuring that no citizen was subjected to injustice. He encouraged them to put themselves in the position of complainants visiting police stations and use their authority for public welfare.
Emphasising honesty, integrity and professional conduct, he urged the officers to perform their duties diligently and ensure the timely delivery of justice. He said standing with the oppressed and providing them with prompt justice should remain their top priority.
The governor also pointed out shortcomings in the justice system, stressing the need for corrective measures and underscoring the importance of impartiality, integrity and dedication in public service.
During the meeting, members of the delegation asked the governor various questions, which he answered in detail. Delegation head SP Aurangzeb briefed him on the objectives and purpose of the training course.
