LAHORE: Lahore Police have devised a comprehensive security plan to ensure the safe and peaceful conduct of the tri-nation cricket series, with four matches, including the final, scheduled to be played in the provincial capital.

The opening match between Pakistan and England will be held at Gaddafi Stadium on October 25.

Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana said foolproof security arrangements would be ensured for all matches. Special measures had been introduced at the players’ residences, along their travel routes and around Gaddafi Stadium to provide a secure environment for players, team officials and cricket fans.

The CCPO directed police personnel to conduct thorough checking and security clearance of spectators before allowing them to enter the stadium.

He said police patrol teams would remain active throughout the matches, while key locations would be monitored round the clock through the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s surveillance camera network.

Kamyana said special attention would also be given to maintaining smooth traffic flow during the matches. Necessary arrangements would be made on roads adjoining Gaddafi Stadium to minimise inconvenience for commuters and cricket fans.

He reiterated that Lahore Police remained committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens while promoting sports activities in the city.

The CCPO added that security arrangements would be closely monitored to ensure effective implementation throughout the series.
