Rawalpindi,(International Desk) — Pakistan’s armed forces on Friday paid tribute to Major Raja Aziz Bhatti, one of the country’s most decorated war heroes, on the 60th anniversary of his martyrdom.
In a joint message, Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmad Babar Sidhu hailed Major Bhatti’s sacrifice as an enduring symbol of courage, faith, and patriotism.
According to the military’s media wing, ISPR, Major Bhatti stood firm against heavy Indian offensives during the 1965 war, holding the line at the Burki sector near Lahore for five consecutive days and nights. His leadership and resilience inspired his troops to resist the enemy advance, playing a decisive role in halting India’s progress in the sector.
Major Raja Aziz Bhatti was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Haider, Pakistan’s highest military honor, and is remembered as a national symbol of bravery and sacrifice.
