Doha — Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday called for Israel to be held accountable for “crimes against humanity,” accusing it of undermining efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.
Addressing the Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, Sharif condemned Israel’s strike on Qatar as a violation of the country’s sovereignty and security, pledging Pakistan’s “full solidarity” with Doha. He urged the United Nations Security Council to enforce an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and allow unhindered access for medical workers.
“We gather here in the shadow of a tragic incident. Israel’s aggression is a continuation of its unlawful actions, and the world cannot remain silent,” Sharif said, adding that the summit had sent a “clear message of Muslim unity against Israeli aggression.”
Sharif further called for the suspension of Israel’s UN membership, emergency humanitarian aid to Gaza’s civilian population, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on 1967 borders. “If we fail to act with collective wisdom, history will not forgive us,” he warned.
