Shanghai/Buenos Aires, — A Chinese airline has announced the launch of the world’s longest commercial flight, lasting up to 29 hours, with bookings now open.
According to international media reports, the new MU746 route will connect Buenos Aires, Argentina, with Shanghai, China, covering a distance of 12,500 miles. The eastbound journey from Shanghai to Buenos Aires will take about 25.5 hours.
The inaugural flight is scheduled for December 4 and will include a two-hour stopover in Auckland, New Zealand, before continuing to its destination.
Airline officials stated that this marks the first commercial route linking two cities located on opposite ends of the globe.
Currently, Singapore Airlines holds the record for the longest nonstop flight, operating a 19-hour service between Singapore and New York.
