Describing it as a “big”, “special” and “unprecedented” day in a short video shared on his social media, Trump added, “we’re very close to achieving peace” in the Middle East.
“We’ll see how it all turns out. We have to get the final word down in concrete,” he highlighted, adding that “everybody was unified in wanting this war to end and seeing peace in the Middle East, and we’re very close to achieving that”.
The video followed a separate Trump post on social media, saying that Hamas was “ready for a lasting peace. Israel must immediately stop the bombing of Gaza, so that we can get the hostages out safely and quickly!”
But Hamas, labelled a terrorist organisation by the US, Israel and the European Union, insisted that other points would require broader Palestinian consultations.
