A pair of Filipino domestic helpers in Hong Kong who had gone missing for nearly two weeks have been found in the city, according to police.
The force said on Thursday that Aleli Perez Tibay, 33, and Imee Mahilum Pabuaya, 24, were found in a shopping mall on Sui Wo Road in Sha Tin.
The pair were not injured and there was nothing suspicious in the case, police added.
The helpers had been spotted in Lei Muk Shue Estate in Tsuen Wan on October 8, four days after being seen on the Lung Mun Country Trail in the area.
Speaking to the Post earlier from the Philippines, Irene Pabuaya, the elder sister of one of the previously missing women, said her sibling had only arrived in Hong Kong in December, and that it was her first time abroad.
It was not immediately clear why the pair could not be found during the 12 days.
In the early days of the search, the elder Pabuaya had written a Facebook post in a local hiking group, urging Hongkongers to help her family locate her sister, saying that their mother in particular was very worried about her well-being.
