Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Monday that Ukraine had tried to attack President Vladimir Putin’s residence in the Novgorod region and so Moscow’s negotiating position would be reviewed.
Ukraine said Russia’s claim was a lie and that Russia was preparing to strike government building in Kyiv.
“Everyone needs to be alert now, absolutely everyone. A strike on the capital may be carried out, especially since this person [Putin] … said they will choose corresponding targets.”
Lavrov said targets had already been selected for retaliatory strikes by Russia’s armed forces.
