The day commenced with special prayers at mosques for the country’s security, unity, and prosperity. In the federal capital, a 31-gun salute was fired, while provincial capitals marked the occasion with 21-gun salutes each.
Prime Minister attended the central flag-hoisting ceremony at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where the national anthem was played and crowds chanted “Pakistan Zindabad.”
In Karachi and Lahore, dignified changing-of-guard ceremonies were held at the mausoleum of the nation’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and at the tomb of national poet Allama Iqbal, with ceremonial units from the Army, Navy, and Air Force taking part.
