On Pakistan’s Independence Day, violence erupted in District Faisalabad under the jurisdiction of Dijkot Police Station, as a mob attacked members of the Ahmadiyya community.
According to reports, the mob, allegedly moving under the cover of patriotic processions, engaged in hate speech and targeted two Ahmadiyya places of worship in 275 Kartarpur. Minarets were torn down, and one worship place was completely set on fire. Both sites had been established prior to 1984. The destruction reportedly lasted for over two hours, during which police failed to intervene.
The mob also attacked nearby Ahmadi homes, hurling stones that shattered windows and left residents in fear. Several community members were physically assaulted, including a youth who was struck in the head with a brick. Others suffered beatings with sticks, resulting in multiple injuries.
Human rights advocates condemned the attacks, noting that such acts contradict the vision of Pakistan’s founders for freedom and tolerance. Calls have intensified for authorities to hold perpetrators accountable and ensure the safety of all citizens.
