LAHORE – The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab has issued an alert for the 10th spell of monsoon rains, warning of heavy downpours and potential flash flooding across several districts from September 6 to 9.
According to a PDMA spokesperson, thunderstorms and heavy showers are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore, and Sialkot. Rainfall is also forecast for Narowal, Hafizabad, Okara, Sahiwal, Kasur, Sargodha, Mianwali, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, and Rajanpur.
Authorities have cautioned that flash floods could occur in hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan between September 7 and 9.
PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia further warned that rivers Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej are already under flood pressure, and urban flooding remains a possibility as stormwater drains and nullahs could overflow in major cities.
