RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey said: “Our members are not asking for special treatment or unreasonable improvements.
“They are standing up to defend the terms and conditions they already have.
“Strike action is always a last resort, but our members have clearly shown that they are prepared to stand together to defend their livelihoods and the terms and conditions they have worked under for many years.
“Furthermore, instead of working with the union to resolve these issues, the company has inflamed the situation by threatening the use of fire-and-rehire tactics.”
A Wood Group spokesperson said: “We have received notification of planned industrial action involving union members employed by Wood on one of our Harbour Energy contracts.
“This is in relation to a recent consultation on changes to employment terms and conditions with employees.
“Personnel and operational safety remain our top priority.”
A Harbour Energy spokesperson said: “We are aware of discussions between Wood and its employees and we hope a constructive resolution can be reached.
“Our priority remains the safety of our people and assets.
“We continue to work closely with all our contractors and expect to maintain safe and reliable operations and production across our business.”
