The cast and creator of one of CBS’ most loved comedies are getting back together.
The network will host an Everybody Loves Raymond reunion special in November. CBS is calling it a 30th anniversary special, although it’s a bit early for that: The series premiered in September 1996, making this year the 29th anniversary of its debut. It’s been 20 years and change since the series finale in May 2005.
The 90-minute special, set to air Nov. 24, will be hosted by Raymond creator Phil Rosenthal and star Ray Romano. Castmembers Brad Garrett, Patricia Heaton, Monica Horan, Madylin Sweeten and Sullivan Sweeten will also appear to discuss their time making the series together and sharing previously unseen outtakes from the show.
The special will also feature tributes to Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle, who played Ray and Robert’s (Garrett) parents Marie and Frank Barone. Other members of the cast, crew and special guests will also share their memories of the show.
Everybody Loves Raymond ran for nine seasons. After a modest start in its first season (when it aired on Fridays for most of the season), the show became an anchor of CBS’ Monday schedule and finished among the 10 highest-rated shows on network TV in six of its remaining eight seasons. The series finale drew nearly 33 million viewers. It won 15 Emmys during its run, including two for best comedy series.
Fulwell Entertainment (Friends: The Reunion, The Kardashians) is producing the Raymond reunion. Romano and Rosenthal executive produce with Rory Rosegarten, Eddy Yablans, Gabe Turner, Emma Conway and Eric Pankowski for Fulwell Entertainment.
