The Outsiders and Maybe Happy Ending, the past two recipients of the Tony Award for best musical, are coming to the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, the Nederlander Organization announced Thursday.
The 2026-27 Broadway in Hollywood schedule also features four other recent best musical Tony nominees — Water for Elephants, Buena Vista Social Club, Operation Mincemeat and Death Becomes Her — new productions of the classics The Great Gatsby and The Who’s Tommy and a return of the heralded blockbusters The Lion King and Hamilton.
“Live theater creates a connection you simply can’t replicate — the shared anticipation, the collective laughter and the moments that leave an entire room breathless,” Broadway in Hollywood president Jeff Loeb said in a statement. “Our 2026-27 season brings together extraordinary surprises and bold storytelling from seven Los Angeles premieres and iconic favorites that audiences have been waiting for.”
The season kicks off with the Sept. 8-27 run of the circus-set Water for Elephants, adapted from Sara Gruen’s novel.

Also in the mix are the returns of The Lion King (Dec. 17-Feb. 13, 2027) and Hamilton (July 28-Aug. 29, 2027).
