The first trailer has been released for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
It’s been a long five-year wait for a new Spider-Man film starring Tom Holland as the web-slinger and below is the first look.
The trailer, released by Sony on Wednesday, shows the superhero enlisting Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher as Peter Parker attempts to stitch his life back together after the events of multi-verse mash-up No Way Home. Parker is also enduring mysterious physical challenges due to hitting a crux point in the “spider life cycle.”
Holland’s real-life partner Zendaya reprises her role as MJ, though the Euphoria star is expected to have a smaller role than in the previous films.
Brand New Day also serves as a prequel to the hugely anticipated Avengers: Doomsday coming in December. The MCU Phase Six title is Holland’s final contracted stand-alone Spider-Man film and is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who also helmed Marvel‘s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The official description: “Following Dr. Stephen Strange’s spell at the end of the film Spider-Man: No Way Home, the world has forgotten that Peter Parker exists. Four years later, Parker anonymously protects New York City as the hero Spider-Man. While investigating a series of crimes, he uncovers a larger mystery and faces the consequences of his past.”
The film co-stars Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colon-Zayas , Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo and Micahel Mando, among others.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is released on July 31.
