Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters this month and with it comes a slew of new merch releases tied to the hit Pixar film franchise.
While fans can pick up children’s books, action figures and even a luggage collaboration with Away inspired by the new movie, the most buzzed-about toy this time around is a child-sized tablet that also plays a pivotal role in the film.
Lilypad is a frog-like tablet introduced in Toy Story 5 that instantly captures the attention of Bonnie, who is seemingly content to leave her analog toy friends Woody, Buzz and co. behind.
Voiced by Greta Lee, Lilypad is the gang’s most formidable foe yet, with a colorful cartoon-like shell, an interactive screen and — gasp — the influence of modern technology.
LeapFrog Disney and Pixar Toy Story 5 Explore and Learn Lilypad
Viewers will have to watch the movie to see how the drama unfolds, but fans can pick up their own version of Lilypad in real life with this LeapFrog x Disney release on Amazon.
The green-themed tablet is designed especially for preschoolers and features four different games that teach everything from letters and numbers to problem-solving skills. Kids can also use the toy tablet to play music, create sound effects and “talk” to Woody, Buzz and Jessie by using pre-set messages and emojis to send them texts. The interactive Lilypad also features moving eyes that rotate as you turn the tablet’s webbed “hands” on the side.
The Toy Story Lilypad tablet measures approximately 9.4 x 9.3 inches in size and weighs about one pound. It runs on batteries, making it easy to take on the go as a portable learning device.
This is an officially licensed release from Pixar and LeapFrog, which makes a host of interactive learning games for kids of all ages. The new Lilypad tablet is also a bestseller on Amazon, with more than a thousand units sold in the last few weeks alone. That number is likely to increase as the movie rolls out across the country.
