Fox News is set to make significant changes to its weekend lineup, giving new shows to Outnumbered co-host and former White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany and current Fox White House correspondents Peter Doocy and Jacqui Heinrich.
McEnany will host Saturday in America from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, with Doocy and Heinrich set to rotate as hosts of a new show called TheSundayBriefing at 11 a.m. on Sunday mornings.
With the new lineup however, Fox has canceled MediaBuzz with Howard Kurtz. Kurtz, the longtime media reporter who joined Fox from CNN in 2013, will become a political media analyst for the cable news channel, and he will continue to host the Media Buzzmeter podcast, while also writing for Fox News Digital.
“I’m extraordinarily proud of the program, which was number one for over 12 years and built a loyal audience that liked our down-the-middle approach of contrasting viewpoints and tackling sensitive subjects, with great independence, buttime marches on,” Kurtz said in a statement.
The cancelation of MediaBuzz means that there are no more media criticism shows on TV, following the cancelation of Reliable Sources by CNN in 2022. Kurtz hosted that program before departing for Fox, with Brian Stelter taking it over after his exit. Stelter is now CNN’s chief media correspondent.
Fox also firmed up some of its other weekend hours, naming correspondent Griff Jenkins a permanent co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, where he had been a recurring guest host; and tapping Johnny Joey Jones and Tomi Lahren as permanent co-hosts of the panel program The BigWeekendShow, which will now expand to three hours on Saturday and Sunday from 5-8 p.m. Each episode typically features four panelists talking about the week’s news.
Lahren first joined Fox in 2017, with McEnany, who was Press Secretary during President Trump’s first term, joined the channel in 2021.
The new lineups will take effect beginning Sep. 20.
“As we expand and innovate ourweekendprograming, we are proud to bring our audience unrivaled depth and expertise,” Fox News Media president & executive editor Jay Wallace said in a statement. “This new dynamicroster underscores our continued commitment to delivering incomparable coverage, reinforcing Fox News Media as the leader in both news and opinion content. For more than a decade, Howie Kurtz has served as the lead authority for media coverage in cable news and we look forward to continuing his smart analysis across our programming.”
Fox has long leaned on consistency in its linear offering. That said, Fox News did add a new weekend primetime show, My View with Lara Trump, earlier this year.
Fox last overhauled its weekday primetime lineup in 2023, following the ouster of Tucker Carlson.
